Survey update
| |

A few more users sent in their survey results and have changed the outcome a bit. Photons and radiosity,
Isosurfaces as well as Bezier editor improvements moved up a notch.
Only 18% of the registered users that we emailed, answered.
The answers were evaluated as follows :
- the first feature mentioned was counted with 2 points
- all other features with 1 point.
This resulted in a distribution as follows:
| Animation improvements: |

|
| Mesh Editor: |

|
| Blob Editor: |

|
| UV Mapping support: |

|
| Photons, Radiosity: |

|
| Convert primitives to mesh: |

|
| New textures: |

|
| POV file Import: |

|
| Isosurfaces: |

|
| Bezier Editor Improvements: |

|
| Mesh Import (3DS, OBJ): |

|
| Sphere Sweeps: |

|
| OpenGL Texture Preview: |

|
| POV script object: |

|
Animation seems to be in high demand :-) And it seems you all want to
see Moray offer some triangle mesh editing capabilities. And, of course, the blob editor.
Thank you very much to those users that answered. We will concentrate our development accordingly.
As far as the OpenGL part of the survey was concerned, the results are as follows:
| 3D Hardware, using OpenGL: |

|
| No 3D Hardware: |

|
| 3D Hardware, not using OpenGL: |

|
If you have any comments about the results, feel free to let us know.
As previously stated, we will wait with the 10 free upgrades until the upgrade is
ready, so anyone that hasn't sent in their survey answers yet, can still do so.

|
POV-Ray 3.5
| |

With POV-Ray 3.5 just around the corner, many of you are wondering whether Moray will be enhanced to
take advantage of the new features that will be available in POV-Ray 3.5. And the answer is "Yes!", it will
be updated to support some of the features that were added in POV-Ray 3.5. We are currently looking at
adding UV Mapping support (and it's looking good).
If you would like to see certain POV-Ray 3.5 features supported, please
let us know what they are. This will help us decide
how to prioritize adding the features.
Note: If you are currently using the POV-Ray 3.5 beta, you may experience a slowdown, because POV-Ray 3.5 now
uses radiosity if it is exported to the scene file, whereas V3.1 only used radiosity if the command-line
switch was given. Since Moray always outputs the radiosity block into the scene file, you will always
be rendering with radiosity.... we might release a Moray V3.31 update to correct this behaviour if there
is sufficient interest.

Another month goes by
| |

Not much news at the moment. We are working on the plugin system with a 3rd-party developer
to make it easier to create an animation plugin and it is looking good. Once it is done
(and that's still quite a ways away, so don't even ask about a release date), it should
finally make animation with POV-Ray for us
"POV-Ray Scene Description Language"-challenged artists a whole lot easier.

News update
| |

Well, time sure flies. More than a month with no update.
At the moment we are working on an animation plugin with another author
which should be really useful. We haven't figured out yet whether it'll require an interim Moray release
or not, since some things are hard to do at the moment and there are multi-threading and MFC issues
that are making life a bit more difficult than it need be.

Moray V3.1 New Release
| |

Due to some bugs that were not found during beta test and during our final testing yesterday,
we have uploaded a new version, Build 4196. It fixes a problem with Copy-Paste and with the
LensFlare plugin.
Please note that this is NOT a free upgrade. The registration number that is used with Moray V3.0 will not work for this release.

Moray V3.1 Released!
| |

We never did say which timezone we were referring to when we said late Tuesday (we meant Hawaiian time<hehe>).
Seriously, though, with only a few minutes to spare (in our timezone anyway), Moray has been uploaded and is
ready for public use.
Unfortunately, we've had to make a bit of a compromise with the Help file, it is not entirely
up-to-date and not perfect, but we thought it would be better to release and update the help
file later.
To register, please wait a day or two until the secure ordering script is updated.

Where is Moray V3.1?!?!?
| |

It's past mid-December and why has Moray V3.1 not appeared? Sorry for keeping you all waiting
but you'll be glad to hear that the Beta test is over and we're busy finishing the help files,
updating the website and preparing the installation, so we will be releasing really soon.
We think late Tuesday, the 22nd of December is a realistic release date.
